Anthurium Dark and Handsome x Carlablackiae — 8" pot | near black velvet leaves

Light barely returns off this blade. The surface is deep matte velvet, almost black in shade and warming to oxblood and forest green where it meets the window. Pale veins run a crisp network from the midrib out to the margins, and the long cordate leaf draws down to a slow drip tip that gives the whole plant a quiet downward pull.

The cross is Anthurium Dark and Handsome onto Carlablackiae. Dark and Handsome comes from the Doc Block program of Dr. Jeff Block, and Carlablackiae is the species collectors reach for when they want the darkest velvet in the genus. Grown start to finish in our Pearl River, Louisiana greenhouse. One is available, and local pickup around Pearl River is always welcome. On a shelf, it works as a dark anchor that pulls every lighter leaf near it into focus.
